There was a short time each year in early spring when the giants fur hadn’t yet moulted and the creature would be easier to find. It had to hide to save it’s hide…

I made this image using collaged shapes of paper and then added detailing in coloured pencil and acrylic paint. I had some good old fashioned fun without any digital tomfoolery!

The Illustration Friday word this week is ‘crash’...
And for your pleasure a show and tell of the different stages…

*I started with a quick pencil-sketch in my A5 sketchbook.

*I then scanned that image and printed it off slightly bigger, to roughly fit an A4 piece of paper. I then traced that print-out on my lightbox onto a nice piece of watercolour paper with pen and ink.

*I then gave the drawing a subtle colourwash using Payne’s grey and yellow ocre watercolour… Hey Presto!

The experimental school play about vivisection was a roaring success, despite a mortified Rosemary, who’s inebriated mother had failed to sew her daughter a matching sack.
The audience had been particularly impressed by the young girls convincing sobs…
